Pay Attention to the Dreams You Dream

PAY ATTENTION TO THE DREAMS YOU DREAM...

God wants to tell you things about your life... and sometimes He does it through your dreams.

"For God speaks once, yes twice, though people do not perceive it, in a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on men, as they slumber on their beds, then he opens the ears of men and seals their instruction." - Job 33:14-16

Yes, God wants to speak to us, but sometimes we aren't very good at listening. Sometimes we can allow ourselves to get too busy to give Him our spiritual ears long enough to know what He wants to communicate to us. That's why it's so important to make time for prayer, reflection, and meditation in God's Word and in His presence, 

Thankfully, in His great love and mercy, He will use dreams, or whatever means necessary to make His will known to us. 

And so... we dream.

Here are just a few simple things I've learned that God often wants to reveal to us through our dreams:

1) HIMSELF. Like the good Father that He is, God wants us to know Him intimately- and He wants us to know who He will be for us in our time of need.

2) THE CONDITION OF OUR HEART. This is so that we may be aware of what is going on inside of us and whether we might possibly need to make any necessary adjustments through repentance, so that He might restore and bless us.

3) WARNINGS. God wants to alert us to unseen dangers so that we can take necessary precautions, correct behavior, or perhaps change a course of action that could potentially be harmful or disastrous. And, importantly, we are to engage in spiritual warfare through prayer.

4) OUR FUTURE. Sometimes it may be about the distant future, but usually it's about the near future or next season of our life and the wonderful things He has in store for us. God wants to encourage us and give us hope for our future. 

Our response to spiritual dreams is vital...

Vital to our peace, prosperity, and protection.

In essence:

• We pray. The initial and primary response is to pray about the dream, asking God for guidance and clarity.
• We discern the meaning. Interpret the dream by considering its symbols and your emotional response to it but always compare it against scripture- God's written Word.
• We take action. If the dream prompts a change in action, take that step. We pray and we obey.
• We seek confirmation. If you're unsure, seek confirmation or more guidance through prayer or discussing it with a trusted spiritual leader.
